ACCOMMODATION STYLE: HOMESTAY

What better way to learn the language and culture than to live with a host family. Host families provide a warm and welcoming environment, providing meals in the home as well as an opportunity to immerse yourself in everything the country and culture has to offer. Just like families in Canada, host families abroad represent many different compositions, nationalities and live in a variety of different areas from small towns or villages to larger cities. Families come in all shapes and sizes but one thing they all have in common is that they are motivated to be part of the experience and look forward to welcoming you into their home!

ORIENTATION: LOCAL ORIENTATION / 10 DAYS PORTUGUESE LESSONS

orientation-icon

A local orientation will be provided by the local coordinator in your host community. The local orientation will help you to get to know the host community, your local support system and provide you with a crash course in important cultural norms, so you can adjust to school and host family life!

All students benefit from 10 days of Portuguese language lessons to jumpstart their program in their local community too!

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: PORTUGUESE

There is no language requirement for Brazil, however applicants are encouraged to study prior the start of their program. Language lessons may be necessary once in country at an additional fee should the level of Portuguese require this for daily life.
