What better way to learn the language and culture than to live with a host family. Host families provide a warm and welcoming environment, providing meals at the home as well as an opportunity to immerse yourself in everything the country and culture has to offer. Families come in all shapes and sizes and we match you based on common interests and personality, which means you could have a host brother or sister, be placed with another exchange student (two cultural experiences in one!), have a small host family or a large host family!

3, 5 and 10 month program students will arrive in Paris at the start of your exchange, meet other exchange students, get a crash course in the language and culture, and do a little sightseeing so that you can start your exchange off right! For those looking for a little more time in Paris, or a little more language tutoring – 3, 5 and 10 month students may also opt to participate in a week long language camp, providing additional language immersion and lessons prior to the start of your program!

Short term programs (1 & 2 Months) may opt to purchase the orientation program to start off in Paris, or alternatively you will receive a local orientation.

A local orientation will be provided to all students by the local coordinator in your host community. The local orientation will help you to get to know the host community, your local support system and provide you with a crash course in important cultural norms, so you can adjust to school and host family life!

Two years of French language study is required. Those students who do not have prior language experience must participate in a 1week language camp hosted in Paris. The language camp takes place the week before your official program start date.

Attend a local public school (private school option may be presented if available).

Common courses: French, Math, Biology, Geography, Physics, History, Phys Ed, Foreign Language (English, German, Spanish or Italian) and optional classes include Economics or a second foreign language.
Average hours per week: 25 hours of class per week.
Fun fact: Most schools have Wednesday afternoons off!
