Our Japanese programs are very popular and due to the high demand of the Classic Japan exchange program, we have limitedspace available for the March and October programs. For all interested applicants, students are asked to complete the application process, which includes completing all the necessary application forms, the interview and payment of the application fee, by the program deadline listed above. Following the application process, YES Canada will review each application and select the successful applicants whose applications will be sent to our partners for final review and who will then receive full acceptance. For students whose application is not selected to be sent to our partners, an alternative Language School program will be offered.

Due to the competitive nature of this program we encourage interested applicants to contact us prior to submitting your preliminary application.

ACCOMMODATION STYLE: HOMESTAY

stay-icon

What better way to learn the language and culture than to live with a host family. Host families provide a warm and welcoming environment, providing meals in the home as well as an opportunity to immerse yourself in everything the country and culture has to offer. Just like families in Canada, host families abroad represent many different compositions, nationalities and live in a variety of different areas from small towns or villages to larger cities. Families come in all shapes and sizes but one thing they all have in common is that they are motivated to be part of the experience and look forward to welcoming you into their home!

ORIENTATION: 3 DAY ORIENTATION ON TOKYO

A mandatory 3 day orientation in Tokyo is included at the beginning of the exchange program. The Tokyo orientation provides for a cultural introduction, a chance to meet other exchange students and the opportunity to sight-see before meeting your host family in your host community! A great way to start your exchange with a little touring and cultural prep!

* Please note: students selected for a customized program will receive a local orientation.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: JAPANESE
